1 Introduction

SUSFUTURE 2024 "From Tradition to Future—A Journey of Sustainable Fashion" International Design Exhibition, is jointly organised by Sustainable Future - Fashion & Textiles, Global Sustainable Fashion Week, and the World Textile University Alliance. This international exhibition aims to facilitate exchange and collaboration between the global sustainable design and fashion-related professional fields. With a focus on design innovation, the exhibition centres around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advocating for sustainability and style in design innovation. It provides an opportunity to encourage the harmonious integration of traditional culture and art with forward-thinking design, and to broaden public awareness of global sustainable fashion. Additionally, the exhibition serves as an international platform for artists, designers, and young talents from various countries and regions to showcase their diverse sustainable designs and creations, promoting cross-cultural exchange and the global development of sustainable design and innovation. It strives to propel global design towards sustainable development, merging tradition with the future for a more stylish and healthy lifestyle.

3 IMPORTANT DATE & EXHIBITION VENUE

Registration deadline: 1 May 2024

Notification of acceptance: 10 May 2024

Exhibition dates: 3-23 June 2024

  • Onsite Exhibition:

The allocation of exhibits will be based on the exhibition space and display effects, with displays across two venues.

- Venue 1: The Jardin × IEGO ART, Taipei

- Venue 2: Art Gallery(5F), Design College, Hsing Wu University, New Taipei

  • Online Exhibition:

The award-winning and selected excellent artworks will be showcased through an online gallery at https://www.ippd-sft.com

4 ELIGIBILITY

Open to individuals and teams worldwide, including both professional and student categories.

  • Professional category: Artists, designers, practitioners, educators, and other professionals in the field with experience and expertise.

  • Student category: Students currently enrolled in an associate degree program or higher.

5 SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The exhibition will be presented in the form of images rather than physical objects. Applicants are required to submit photographs of their works along with relevant information.

 

To maintain consistency with the theme of the exhibition, submitted artwork files must adhere to the following requirements:

  • Theme connection: The submitted artworks should demonstrate relevance to sustainability while incorporating traditional or fashion elements.

  • Submission format: The submitted artworks must be in digital image format, which can include high-definition images of clothing, accessories, textiles, fashion art, paintings, mixed media, or digitally generated design images. 

  • Submission Quantity: Each applicant must submit ONE artworks, with one clear image per artwork.

6 SUBMISSION PROCESS

Please adhere to the following steps for a successful submission.

  • Kindly prepare the following documents:

- Registration form

- Images of artwork, named "Surname_Artwork"

- Applicant's portrait photo in colour and high resolution: Named "Surname_profile"

- If you are willing, please record a video of yourself. If you choose to do so, we may select videos to be played during the event. Your video should be 1-3 minutes long and named "Applicant_video". Make sure the video is in landscape orientation and that you are facing the camera. In the video, please share your thoughts on "Tradition and Future, Sustainability and Fashion, and Life".

- Photo of Student ID (if applicable): Named "Surname_ID"

  • Upload all the above documents to a cloud storage service, such as WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Baidu Netdisk, etc.
     

  • Send the download link for application documents to exhibition@susfuture.org with the subject "SUSFUTURE2024_Surname_Artwork Title".

7 ARTWORK & IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

Artwork Type (select one type):

  • Photographs of physical designs: photographs of their physical designs.

  • Digital designs: digitally generated artworks.

Image Requirement:

Each applicant is required to submit images of ONE artworks, adhering to the following specifications:

  • Image format: JPG

  • Resolution: 300 DPI (dots per inch)

  • Image dimensions: Approximately between A3 to A2.

  • File size limit: not be less than 5 MB

Additional requirements:

Applicants for participation in the exhibition must own the copyright of the visuals (including images and video) and allow the exhibition organizers permission to use the images of the artworks free of charge for exhibition and subsequent related promotional and publicity purposes. Applicants should ensure that they possess the necessary rights and permissions for all submitted artwork. 

8 APPLICATION FEE

Students and staff from University of Leeds are exempt from exhibition fees.

9 JUROR & AWARDS

The exhibition will be evaluated by an international panel based on creativity, sustainability, design aesthetics, and commercial value. All successfully registered participants will receive an electronic certificate jointly issued by the organizers. Winners will receive electronic award certificates, while selected exhibitors will be awarded exhibition certificates. Applicants who submit artwork but are not selected for the exhibition will still receive participation certificates as encouragement.

Awards will be presented in both professional and student categories.

​

Additional Benefits: 

Fashion magazine and media exposure: Fashion Magazine and Media Exposure: Winners will receive interviews by a fashion magazine entitled BODY, in partnership with this exhibition, providing detailed coverage of the designer and their work. Additionally, artworks by participating exhibitors and successfully registered fee-paying participants will also be featured in the magazine.

 

Providing a digital magazine: All applicants to the exhibition will receive a digital magazine entitled BODY, specially co-produced for this international exhibition in collaboration with a fashion magazine. This magazine will include information about the exhibition, as well as images and introductions of all participating contributors and their works. In line with sustainability practices, physical print magazines will not be provided.

10 TERMS & CONDITIONS

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Submission is open to individuals of all nationalities, ages, genders, ethnicities, and religions.

  2. The applicant(s) must hold all moral and intellectual property rights to their submitted works.

  3. Artworks must be submitted digitally, adhering to the specifications outlined in the submission form.

  4. Submission of artwork for the exhibition requires payment of an application fee, except for students from specifically invited institutions, who are exempt from charges.

  5. No refunds will be issued after payment of the application fee.

Content Guidelines:

  1. Submissions containing material contravening applicable laws or infringing upon third-party rights will not be accepted.

  2. The selection of artworks is based on various criteria such as size, theme, and technical specifications. Decisions made by the organizers and jury regarding placement are final.

  3. The organizers will not provide feedback or critique on the evaluation results of any artworks.

Copyright and Usage:

  1. Applicants Artists authorize the organizers to use submitted images, videos, and textual information for promotional purposes related to the exhibition.

  2. Applicants certify that they hold the copyright for submitted documents.

  3. Applicants certify that submitted works are original and do not infringe upon existing copyrights. Model releases must be obtained for any included images of individuals.

  4. If accepted works differ significantly from the submitted images, the exhibition committee reserves the right to revoke participation without refunding the application fee.

  5. Additionally, in the event of any disputes over copyright or other legal matters concerning exhibited works, the exhibition organizers and management shall not bear any legal responsibility.

The ultimate interpretation of all the terms and conditions above belongs to the event organizers and curatorial team. As this exhibition is international in nature, the English version shall prevail for all content. Participants are advised to carefully read the corresponding English version.
